Privacy Policy
This site is run by Michael Baldwin and Deborah Korn, the authors of Every Memory Deserves Respect. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit, when you join the mailing list, and when you send us a message. The short version: we collect very little, we use it only for the reason you gave it to us, and you can ask us to delete it whenever you like.

Joining the Mailing List
The signup box at the bottom of every page asks for two things. Your email address is required. Your first name is optional, and the form works without it. Nothing else is collected there. We use those details to send our newsletter, which we aim to send twice a year and sometimes send less often. We do not use them for anything else. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and a confirmation takes you off the list, and you never have to tell us why.
Sending Us a Message
You can also write to us and ask, and we will do it for you. The form on our contact page asks for your first name, last name, email address, a subject line, and your message. What you put in the message is up to you. We read it, we answer where we can, and we use it for nothing else. One thing worth saying plainly, because of what this book is about. The contact form is an ordinary web form on an ordinary website. It is not a secure or confidential channel, and it is not a route to clinical care. Please do not send us medical details, therapy records, or anything about your own history that you would not want sitting in an email inbox. What is Collected Automatically
This site is built on Wix. Wix sets a small number of cookies that let the site load, keep it secure, and hold your session together while you move between pages. Those cookies are necessary for the site to work at all. Wix lists every one of them, and what each is for, at support.wix.com. We also use Google Analytics, which counts visits and shows us which pages people read most. It sets two cookies, both starting with _ga, which last about 13 months. It collects your IP address, your rough location, what browser you are on, and which pages you looked at. We use it to understand which parts of the site are worth expanding. We never try to work out who an individual visitor is, and we never could. Right now these load as soon as you arrive on the site, without asking you first. If you would rather Google Analytics did not measure your visit, Google publishes a browser add-on that switches it off on every site you visit, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. You can also block or clear cookies in your own browser settings, and the site will still work. Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person rather than a machine. It loads when you reach the signup box and it looks at your device and how you interact with the page to make that call. Who Else Sees Your Information
Your details sit in this site's Wix account. Wix stores them for us and has no separate relationship with you, which is why Wix's own policy tells visitors to come to us rather than to them with any question about their information. You can read that policy at wix.com/about/privacy. Google receives what Analytics and reCAPTCHA collect, as described above. Our web designer at New Leaf Creative, who built and maintains this site, can also reach the mailing list and the contact messages. We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone else for their own marketing.
Asking Us What We Hold, and Asking Us to Delete It
Send us a message through the form on our contact page and you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may have specific legal rights over your information, including the right to see it, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used. We will honor those requests wherever you live, without asking which law applies to you.
How Long We Keep Things
Mailing list details stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Messages sent through the contact form stay in our email for as long as we may need them to answer you, and a copy stays in this site's Wix account.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not ask visitors their age and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.
Links to Other Sites
We link out to booksellers, to the EMDR International Association, to event hosts, to interviews and podcasts, and to our social accounts. Once you follow one of those links you are on somebody else's site, under their privacy policy rather than ours.
Changes to This Page
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
